Movement-forward, Groove Inspired Education
Norman Edwards Jr.’s teaching is rooted in groove, movement, and musical connection. His approach to drum set and jazz education emphasizes feel, interaction, and the relationship between rhythm and energy. His father Norman Sr., grandfather Clyde Harvey and various mentors (Dr. Peter Archer, Kevin Blancq, Rudy Linka, Greg Germann, Dan Weiss, Bob Stewart, Roy Fortunato, Gary Fogel, Ulysess Owens, Obed Calvaire, Justin Diciocio, John Riley and Bobby Sanabria) inspired his teaching knowledge. He currently teaches at Manhattan School of Music, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Mozart for Munchkins, privately on his own, through the Shareef Clayton Music Foundation and ZOOM. He teaches all ages and levels.
